What Ships on August 12
Patch 26.16 is the first scheduled Classic roster expansion after the July 29 Patch 26.15 launch. Riot's public roadmap confirmed three new champions on August 12; PBE datamines and multiple community reports consistently name Akali, Shen, and Kennen—the Ionia trio that expands assassin mid, global support, and AP poke fantasies missing from the launch sixty.

Classic Akali Kit Snapshot
Classic Akali returns with Twin Disciplines passive—empowered autos dealing bonus magic damage with spell vamp—Mark of the Assassin (Q) for a six-second mark that procs on melee follow-ups with damage and energy restore, Twilight Shroud (W) smoke for armor, magic resist, and invisibility, and Shadow Dance (R) with up to three dash charges to a marked target.
Expect AD/hybrid builds and energy management to matter more than modern Akali's execute-focused fantasy. Practice shroud exits in Co-op vs AI before Draft; save IP so Shop unlocks are instant on patch morning—Get IP in Classic.
Classic Shen and Kennen
Classic Shen restores Ki Strike passive, Vorpal Blade (Q) ally-heal marks, Feint (W) shield, Shadow Dash (E) taunt dash, and Stand United (R) global shield-teleport with long cooldowns. He reopens global support and top-lane peel identities that defined early competitive drafts.
Classic Kennen applies Mark of the Storm for multi-ability stuns, Thundering Shuriken poke, Electrical Surge mark procs, Lightning Rush ball form, and Slicing Maelstrom teamfight ult capped at three hits per target. Meta and Council Aftermath
Week-one leaders on Overall Tier List and Live Week-One Meta will face new ban pressure once the Ionia trio lands. Expect Shen ult to change Baron and sidelane math, Kennen ult to punish clumped sieges, and Akali shroud to punish immobile mid mages. Revisit editorial tiers after the first 26.16 weekend—there is still no public API.
