Survive the Jungle in League Classic
Official August 3, 2026 League Classic jungle guide breakdown: Hunter's Machete, Health Potions, leashes, fast respawns, Madred's Razors, Spirit Stone, and mana discipline.
Riot's August 3 Jungle Reminder
On August 3, 2026 Riot published Survive the Jungle—the companion tip video to July 31's laning guide. The message is blunt: modern jungling habits get you killed on the restored Rift. Camps hit harder, mana regenerates slower, and there is no pet to pad your clear.
Pair this page with camp layout notes on Jungle Camps and live jungler rankings on Jungle. Watch the embedded official video, then practice one full clear in Co-op before your next Draft invade.
Tip 1–2: Hunter's Machete and Health Potions
Open every jungle game with Hunter's Machete. Classic camps are tuned to punish bare-handed starts that modern players attempt with free pets and softer first clears. Machete is the baseline clear tool—not an optional luxury.
Stack Health Potions on the opening buy. Riot's script is literal: if you do not want to die, buy potions. Warwick can lean on innate sustain later, but first-clear potion discipline still separates clean level-three ganks from fountain walks.
Tip 3–4: Leashes and Faster Respawn Cycles
Always ask the nearest laner to leash. The ancient ritual still works: they chip the camp after you pull aggro, you keep HP for the next camp or an early gank, and they get a faster tempo jungler in return. No leash often means a late first gank and a dead buff start.
Plan routes around Classic's much faster camp respawns. After a gank or a back, return to farm instead of hovering mid aimlessly. Maximizing EXP means chaining camps between plays—idle downtime is free gold for the enemy jungler.
Tip 5: Upgrade Items and Spend Mana Like Gold
On your first meaningful recall, prioritize an upgraded jungle item before random damage components. Riot highlights Madred's Razors and Spirit Stone as the clean next steps, then continue the upgrade line so clears stay healthy while you roam.
Mana regenerates far slower than modern League. Stop dumping cooldowns into nearly dead monsters. Tight ability rotations speed clears and leave resources for ganks—the difference Riot calls out between good and great Classic junglers. Film study from LCK Legend Match shows how era junglers sequenced camps under that constraint.
