Live Week-One Classic Meta
Practical League Classic week-one meta after July 29 launch: ban priorities, gold-income supports, DFG mids, jungle pathing, and how to learn without public API data.
Discovery Rules for Week One
Classic launched without a public API, so week-one meta is ethnographic: watch MSI and regional showmatches, note first-blood patterns in your own Drafts, and distrust anyone selling precise win rates on day two. Editorial baselines live on Overall Tier List and Day-One Meta.
Optimize for decisive spikes—Deathfire Grasp rotations, Heart of Gold stacking, and long CC chains—more than modern short-trade DPS curves. Combat pacing primer on Combat Pacing.
Ban and Pick Priorities
Early bans still cluster on Jarvan IV jungle engage and hard-engage supports like Leona. Mid priority stays with Ahri and Lux control mages; top respects Nasus and Garen longevity; ADC looks to Caitlyn-style lane bullies when available in the sixty—otherwise Ashe utility and Vayne late carries.
Off-meta specialists should rehearse AP Sion and pre-2012 Katarina in customs before bringing them to Draft—Old Sion Stunlock and Katarina 2012 Kit. Save IP for August 12 roster adds on Wave 2 / Patch 26.16.
Item and Rune Shortcuts
Supports default into Philosopher's Stone / Heart of Gold lines on Support Gold Items. Bruisers evaluate Atmogs timing on Iconic Meta Builds. Mages decide DFG rush versus Rod of Ages on Deathfire Grasp Build.
Keep at least three rune pages: AD lane, AP lane, and utility/support. Rune Recommender and Set Up Rune Pages cover the templates. Remember Patch 26.17 expands rune options—do not overspend IP on niche pages before then.
Looking Past Week One
Council voting opens August 26. Balance patches land every cycle per FeralPony. Plan progression with 2026 Classic Roadmap and First Week Guide rather than chasing phantom ranked ladders—No Ranked FAQ.
When 26.16 champions arrive, expect immediate Draft chaos. Re-check this page and Overall Tier List after each patch instead of assuming day-one bans stay correct through Worlds Act II.
