Riot unveiled a multi-month Classic roadmap on July 29, 2026 launch day. Game director Brian "FeralPony" Feeney emphasized per-patch balance updates—Classic shipped sixty champions and entire legacy systems at once, so early busted outliers are expected and intended to be patched regularly.

Patch 26.15 Through 26.17
Patch 26.15 (July 29) delivered Classic mode, sixty champions, Classic Pass Act I, Classic Levels, runes, and masteries. Patch 26.16 (August 12) adds three champions—kit previews for Akali, Shen, and Kennen on Patch 26.16 Preview and Wave 2 / Patch 26.16.
Patch 26.17 (August 26) opens the first Council voting window and ships additional rune options. Prep on First Vote Prep (Aug 26); earn votes through Classic Levels and Pass progression on Voting Power.
Patches 26.18, 26.19, and 26.20
Patch 26.18 (September 9) adds another champion wave—expect Council winners from 26.17 to influence who lands. Patch 26.19 continues Council ballots. Patch 26.20 (October 7) introduces Classic Pass Act II, timed near Worlds 2026 opening weekend and likely themed around the global finals season.

How Players Should Plan
Bank IP before August 12 and September 9 roster drops using Prepare for Patch 26.16. Push Classic Level before August 26 so voting power matters on the first ballot. Hold premium Pass decisions until Act II themes clarify around Worlds if cosmetics are your priority.
